Affacciatisi all’onore delle cronache musicali nel 2002 con “Il Mattino Ha L’Oro In Bocca” (ristampato poi nel 2005 con una scaletta leggermente ritoccata), gli EPO erano stati immediatamente adotatti da MTV.it come una sicura promessa nell’interessante – ma discontinuo – panorama indipendente nostrano. Non era stato difficile restare colpiti dalla materia di cui era – di cui è – fatto EPO: un progetto curato sotto tutti i suoi aspetti, dove il suono e i testi fluidificano naturalmente nell’espressione estetica dell’obbligatorietà promozionale – dalla copertina del disco alle foto destinate alla stampa. Un pensiero a tutto tondo che torna con “Silenzio Assenso”, frutto di un’autoproduzione densa di sforzi – non ultimo quello di far quadrare i conti tra le necessità dell’etichetta in proprio – la Blend’R – e le esigenze di mercato. Nonostante tutto, le fatiche fisiche non hanno intaccato di un solo grammo la potenza artistica del quintetto… Forse è meglio dirlo subito e senza mezzi termini: “Silenzio Assenso” è un disco straordinario, destinato a resistere all’usura del tempo e delle mode. Un Fatto d’Arte profondo, che condensa in 10 canzoni (e due ghost track) gli umori del Rock, della Canzone d’Autore Italiana e del Pop nelle loro accezioni migliori: quelle da ‘Lettera Maiuscola’, appunto. Piuttosto che chiamare in ballo nomi impegnativi del calibro di Fabrizio De André o Lucio Battisti – come facemmo ai tempi del debutto – vale la pena tracciare strade più battute e riconoscibili dal grande pubblico di oggi, scevri dal timore di compromettere la ‘dignità artistica’ nell’accostare la poesia sonora messa a punto dagli EPO alle liquide ballate dei Coldplay o alle intuizioni popolari dei nostri negramAro: ché il successo – a volte anche quello commerciale – ha ben ragion d’essere. Da questo punto di vista, “Silenzio Assenso” contiene più di una perla. Prima tra tutte, “Sporco”: sintesi perfetta tra cantabilità e rumore, sentimento e ritmo, ansia e catarsi. A “In Cattività” tocca svelare un mistero: il fiore interiore della discordia può avere una colonna sonora leggera. Il contrappunto del pianoforte all’invito di andare a “vedere la vita ammaestrata” è emozionante fino all’estasi di lacrime sorridenti. Con “Neve” è come se la testa si piegasse appena nel vuoto lieve imposto dalla perdita: serve un clangore di strumenti distorti a riportare il capo e l’equilibrio in asse. “Silenzio Assenso” disegna un cerchio perfetto: dallo struggimento iniziale di “Pezzo Commerciale Estivo” al congedo sussurrato di “Nella Tua Mente C’è Un Posto Segreto”, siamo di fronte a un incantesimo armonico per un mondo incompiuto. Inutile resistere alla seduzione…

Affacciatisi the honor of the musical chronicles in 2002 with “Il Mattino Ha L’Oro In Bocca” (later reprinted in 2005 with a ladder slightly altered), the EPO had been immediately adotatti by MTV.it as a sure promise nell’interessante — but discontinuous – independent nostrano landscape. Was not difficult to be affected by the substance of which was – which is – whether EPO: a curate in all its aspects, where the sound and lyrics of course liquifying der promotional aesthetic expression – from the album cover to the photos intended for printing. A thought that all-round back with “silence”, the result of dense un’autoproduzione efforts – not least of which is to balance accounts between the needs of the label in its own – the Blend’R – and the market needs. Despite all the efforts have not affected the natural one gram of the power of artistic quintet … Perhaps it is better to say so immediately and in no uncertain terms: “silence” is an extraordinary disc, designed to withstand the test of time and fashions. A deep Done Art, which condenses into 10 songs (and two ghost track) the moods of the Rock, Song of English and author of Pop in their best meanings: those from ‘capital letter’ itself. Rather than call in demanding dance names like Fabrizio De André or Lucio Battisti – as we did in the days of the debut – it is worth drawing the most recognizable characters and the general public today, lacking the fear of compromising the ‘artistic dignity’ in ‘juxtapose poetry sound developed by the EPO Cash ballads of Coldplay or the intuitions of our popular negramaro: because the success – sometimes even the commercial sector – has very little sense. From this point of view, “silence” is more of a pearl. First of all, “Dirty”: a perfect synthesis between the cantabile and noise, feeling and rhythm, anxiety and catharsis. A “captive” touches reveal a mystery: the inner flower of contention can have a sound-light. The counterpoint to the piano to go to “make disciples of looking at life” is moving up smiling tears of ecstasy. With “Snow” is as if the head is bent just slightly in the vacuum imposed by loss: clangore need a tool to restore the distorted head and balance in line. “Silence” draw a perfect circle: from initial pine “Piece Commercial Summer” leave whispered of “In Your Mind Is A Secret Place”, we are faced with a spell for a harmonious world unfinished.
