Decine di basiji, la milizia paramilitare iraniana, hanno tentato di assaltare l’ambasciata italiana a Teheran. Lo ha comunicato il ministro degli Esteri, Franco Frattini, nel corso di un’audizione al Senato. I miliziani, ha detto Frattini, hanno tirato pietre contro l’ambasciata e urlato slogan come “Morte all’Italia” e “Morte a Berlusconi”. Sarebbero state prese di mira anche l’ambasciata tedesca, quella francese e quella olandese. “Vi comunico – ha detto Frattini – che si è appena svolta una manifestazione ostile verso l’ambasciata italiana a Teheran. Un centinaio di basji, che si sono resi protagonisti di violazioni contro civili hanno tentato di assaltare l’ambasciata a colpi di pietre e lo stesso stanno facendo con l’ambasciata di Francia e Olanda”. Per questa ragione, “l’Italia non invierà l’ambasciatore alle manifestazioni dell’11 febbraio”, ha annunciato il ministro, secondo cui “c’è una consultazione europea per capire se vi sarà una sorta di osservazione diplomatica da parte delle cancelliere europea, ma credo che quello che è stato deciso dall’Italia sarà condiviso da altri Paesi, come Germania e Gran Bretagna”. L’ambasciata italiana a Teheran ”resta aperta” nonostante il tentativo di assalto. ”Non pregiudichiamo le cose”, ha aggiunto il titolare della Farnesina. A scatenare le proteste sono state le dichiarazioni del premier italiano durante la recente visita in Israele. A radunarsi di fronte alla rappresentanza italiana, afferma la tv di Stato “Press Tv”, non erano miliziani basiji, come affermato dal capo della Farnesina, ma “studenti universitari” che chiedevano al Parlamento di limitare le relazioni con i governi che “interferiscono” nelle faccende dell’Iran. Le manifestazioni, si legge ancora, si sono tenute all’esterno delle ambasciate italiana e francese e gli slogan urlati erano: “Morte a Berlusconi” e “Morte ai sostenitori del terrorismo”. I manifestanti, afferma Press Tv citando la Fars, hanno lanciato uova e pomodori contro l’ambasciata francese. Press TV lascia che sia Frattini ad affermare che la polizia “ha fermato un assalto vero e proprio”, ma sottolinea che secondo diversi “osservatori” il riferimento del capo della diplomazia italiana ai basiji è “un altro deliberato tentativo messo in atto dai membri dell’Unione Europea di demonizzare e mancare apertamente di rispetto per il piu’ importante corpo di difesa popolare iraniano, e dunque e’ un’offesa a tutti i cittadini iraniani”.
