A partire da Maggio la Image Comics pubblicherà una mini di 4 numeri della serie SAM & TWITCH, l’opera che anni addietro completava e allargava le vicende principali narrate su Spawn, e che seguiva le vicende dei due detective della polizia di New York. La particolarità della nuova mini, è che il cast è completamente composto da italiani: Luca Blengino (testi), Luca Erbetta (disegni), Fabio Bono (chine) e Filippo Rizzu (colori). L’inverno più intenso copre la grande mela, e i nostri detective si ritrovano per le mani una serie di inspiegabili eventi ”letterali”: Un sospettato, spacciatore di droga, viene trovato morto, nudo e con quello che sembra essere l’inizio di una storia scritta su tutto il suo corpo. La prima serie , che ha visto anche i disegni di un grande Alberto Ponticelli ,è stata pubblicata dalla Panini sulle pagine di Spawn, ed è riuscita a riscuotere un discreto successo per la bellezza e la suspance delle storie: una ristampa in Italia sarebbe davvero gradita. Fin dal 1998 -anno della sua nascita- la testata di Spidergirlha avuto sempre un posto nel cuore  dei fan del Marvel  Universe risultando così l’unico personaggio femminile capace di resistere nel tempo nonostante le numerose cancellazioni. Il merito è dovuto forse alla sua carica d’azione e ai continui colpi di scena. Così lo sceneggiatore e creatore di May Parker  Tom DeFalco ha deciso di rilanciare la serie a partire dal maggio prossimo con il primo numero di Spectacular Spider-Girl. Ambientato nella realtà parallela  MC2 – che è collocabile 15 anni dopo l’attuale continuity- gli effetti di Brand New Day non sono mai arrivati, ergo  May Parker  continua ad essere la figlia di Mary Jane Watson e Peter Parker. Le novità per le uscite iniziali saranno la presenza di un clone(?) della protagonista, April Parker , un ibrido simbionte/umano con i poteri di Spiderman e Venom; l’adrenalina del Punitore originale mai andato in pensione; il ritorno di personaggi storici della serie come American Dream e Buzz. Inoltre sembra esserci l’idea di far viaggiare nel tempo Spidergirl per portarla spesso nell’attuale Marvel  Universe. Una consuetudine tipica di un altro character, Cable degli X-Men. Le promesse per un ottimo titolo sembrano esserci tutte, attendiamo con impazienza ulteriori sviluppi. Le ultime apparizioni in Italia della supereroina risalgono al numero 444 e 512 in team-up con Arana e Spiderman dell’omonima testata quindicinale edita da Panini Comics.

Il Festival di Sanremo si è concluso ma ecco il palco del teatro Arroston in “Zio Paperone, Paperica e il concerto del Comandante”. E’ la storia a fumetti che Topolino dedica a Vasco Rossi, alias il Comandante Brasko. La storia racconta come il produttore Zio Paperone e l’inviato Paperica riescano a convincere Brasko, ritirato dalle scene, a tornare sul palco ed esibirsi dal vivo per i fan in un “concerto che aveva sempre sognato di fare”.Disegnata dal Maestro Giorgio Cavazzano e scritta da Fausto Vitaliano, la storia propone gag divertenti e una esilarante carellata di cantanti e showmen protagonisti della musica italiana. Troviamo infatti Pippo Baudo (Pippuzzo Militello) e Paolo Bonolis (Paolino Banalis) che presentano le manifestazioni canore di Paperopoli, sempre più in crisi causa lo scarso pubblico e le canzoni sempre più simili a se stesse. Sul palco dell’“Arroston” si esibiscono così: Tito Cotogna con la sua “Sono ancora qui”, Miki Zerillo con “Non cambio nemmeno se me lo chiedi per favore”, Clovodeo Ming che canta “Sempre la solita solfa” e naturalmente largo spazio anche ai giovani con il rapper Fabbro e Fibbia che esegue “Fatemi un applauso altrimenti vi rigo la macchina”, il cantastorie Piovra con “Il mio piccione abbaia” e tanti altri.I festival canori paperopolesi non attirano più l’attenzione del grande pubblico e così, per risollevare le sorti sfortunate dell’industria musicale e per evitare il tracollo finanziario, Zio Paperone spedisce l’inviato speciale Vincenzo Paperica in un tranquillo paese tra le colline, Lazooka. Lì vive il Comandante Brasko, leggendario musicista che ha deciso di abbandonare le scene per darsi alla pesca della trota crescentina. Paperica riesce a scovare il grande rocker, poi cerca di convincerlo a tornare a incidere musica e a calcare il palcoscenico. Per fortuna Brasko accetta, ma pone una insindacabile condizione: ritornare sulla scena musicale con il concerto che ha sempre sognato di tenere. La decisione procurerà parecchi grattacapi a Paperica e costerà un sacco di dollari a Paperon de’ Paperoni, che assolda i più famosi esperti di musica dal vivo, perchè vedere di nuovo il Comandante sul palco è un’emozione senza prezzo! Ma la soluzione sarà difficile perché non avrà niente a che fare con effetti speciali e budget astronomici, ma con un… antico misetro da svelare.

Singolare proposta della Kappa Edizioni, che dedica questo volume dell’ormai longeva collana Mondo Naif a un’interessante ristampa di due lavori della bravissima Vanna Vinci, due storie di vampiri come recita il sottotitolo al volume, singolare perché trattandosi di due storie di cui una concepita per il mercato giapponese si leggono in maniera speculare, una partendo dall’inizio e l’altra dal fondo, concludendosi entrambe a metà del volume.La prima storia, se leggiamo il volume all’occidentale, è la riproposizione del primissimo lavoro dell’autrice, qui presente sia ai testi che ai disegni, “L’altra parte”, intesa come lato oscuro della vita, rappresentato dal lugubre Adrian Voda che un giorno incrocia la giovane studentessa Agnese in un hotel di Milano, tra i due inizia sottilmente e quasi casualmente una sorta di strano rapporto, i testi in taluni punti forse un po’ troppo didascalici, sembra quasi di assistere a una telecronaca dove la protagonista descrive continuamente ciò che fa, riescono però a rendere nel complesso perfettamente lo stato d’animo dei protagonisti, i loro tormenti, i loro dubbi e le loro paure di fronte a questo nuovo legame che senza quasi accorgersene sembra destinato a legare inevitabilmente i due per la vita e forse anche oltre, dall’imbarazzo iniziale con lo scambio delle prime frasi di pura cortesia a un crescendo dove emerge chiaro il turbamento di lei di fronte al suo sinistro ma affascinate interlocutore e dall’altro lato la terribile fragilità “anemica” dell’etereo co-protagonista, che lo rende decisamente molto più umano (e credibile) che un mostro assetato di sangue, ma come ormai apparirà chiaro, il tema di fondo è sicuramente un amore romantico e non una storia dell’orrore, un vampiro quindi più accennato, insinuato e suggerito che svelato e mostrato brutalmente, sfumato tra i chiaro/scuri delle vignette emerge nella sua tragicità e umanità andando a legarsi indissolubilmente alla sua “vittima” del tutto consapevole, alla fine, e consenziente. La seconda invece si intitola “Una casa a Venezia” ed è la storia appunto pensata per il mercato giapponese e pubblicata dalla Kodansha, vede ai testi in questo caso la firma di Giovanni Mattioli, che ha collaborato poi con la Vinci anche in altre occasioni, e sempre una giovane universitaria (stavolta di Belle Arti anziché di Medicina) chiamata Rosa come protagonista, in trasferta a Venezia per i suoi studi, con una delle città più romantiche del mondo come sfondo un’altra storia d’amore era quasi inevitabile, con l’aggiunta di un piccolo abbozzo di triangolo ad agitare ancor di più le calme acque della laguna che anche in questo caso vedranno i due protagonisti prima sfiorarsi, poi incontrarsi (inevitabilmente) per caso, giungere alla scoperta del tragico segreto di “lui” (dorme in un sepolcro giù in cantina) e la successiva presa di coscienza di lei terrorizzata e sconvolta per quanto ha appreso ma contemporaneamente ormai perdutamente innamorata anche se ancora non se ne rende conto pienamente, col terzo incomodo che cerca, inutilmente, di insinuarsi tra i due. Bella proposta quindi questa della Kappa Edizioni, che celebra ancora una volta il talento di un’autrice bravissima a scavare nell’animo dei personaggi e a rendere col suo stile essenziale e pulito tutta una serie di espressioni e moti interiori (nonché un ottimo uso del bianco e nero e dei retini) che donano una certa tridimensionalità e profondità alle sue storie, mai come in questo caso attuali visto il periodo di grande successo della saga in libreria e cinematografica romantico/vampiresca di Twilight. Buonissima l’edizione, secondo gli standard molto curati e già ben noti della casa editrice, un volume brossurato di ben 170 pagine in b/n con un’ottima carta e un’ottima stampa . Pounded è una miniserie in tre episodi realizzata nel 2001 da Brian Wood, già autore dell’ apprezzato e consigliato Demo (pubblicato sempre da Double Shot), e da Steve Rolston (Queen & Country: Operazione Terra Bruciata) che ci viene proposta in un elegante volumetto dal formato tascabile poco più grande di un manga. Si tratta di una commedia dai toni agrodolci, più agri e aspri che dolci, che ci trasporta nel backstage della scena musicale punk hardcore di Vancouver.La città canadese è musicalmente dominata da Heavy Parker e dal suo gruppo: il ragazzo suona sì le note della ribellione giovanile, ma è il classico figlio di papà che vive in un super-attico in pieno centro e che sfrutta la sua aurea di contestatore alternativo più per fare colpo sulle ragazze, rimorchiarle e andarci a letto che per convinzioni personali. Un tipo che, come ci racconta lo sceneggiatore nell’introduzione al volume, è facile incontrare nella vita di tutti giorni anche in contesti diversi da quello di questa storia; un tipo che abbiamo “odiato” per il suo successo con le donne e per riuscire, nel bene e nel male, a stare al centro dell’attenzione. E’ proprio una delle tante ragazze che Heavy ha fatto innamorare a costituire il motore della storia: quando Missy scopre che il “suo” Heavy l’ha tradita non appena lei è partita per frequentare il college, decide di fargliela pagare come si deve. La storia è molto scorrevole, raccontata in maniera ironica, leggera e piuttosto cinica e offre alcuni momenti davvero divertenti e gustosi che ci fanno arrivare tutto d’un fiato alle pagine finali del racconto: peccato che a fine lettura, una volta chiuso l’albo, ci si chiede se la storia sia davvero finita così o se sia destinata a proseguire; insomma, un epilogo un po’ troppo inconcludente.Graficamente, invece, Pounded è un gran gioiellino, con un Rolston ispiratissimo che realizza delle tavole incredibilmente precise e accurate tanto nel raffigurare panorami ed esterni della sua città natale, quanto nel rappresentare gli interni dell’attico di Heavy o i locali in cui la band si ubriaca.Gradevole e pulito il character design dei personaggi: morbido e sensuale per le ragazze, più spigoloso per i ragazzi, dalla mimica precisa ed espressiva e dal look che li distingue all’istante. Discreta l’edizione: buoni materiali usati e buona la cura editoriale del volume, che contiene in appendice tutte le cover, una gallery con schizzi e note sui personaggi, pin up, storie brevi apparse originariamente sul sito della Oni Press (molto divertenti!) e biografie degli autori. Il prezzo è un po’ alto per un volume di appena cento pagine, in bianco e nero e dal formato tascabile.

Il 16 marzo sul suolo americano debutterà la graphic novel di Twilight, con una prima stampa che conterà 350.000 unità. La bontà dell’operazione, per quanto possa sembrare azzardata, è dettata sicuramente dalla natura del fenomeno in questione, che solo nel circuito librario ha venduto oltre 53 milioni di copie. Annunciata lo scorso luglio, l’opera edita dalla Yen Press ha beneficiato del tratto sensibile, accurato e fedele al testo originale dell’artista coreano Young Kim, che avrà il formato hardcover e un prezzo intorno ai 20 dollari. Se siete dei fan sfegatati di Edward e Bella non potete lasciarvi sfuggire questa occasione!
